Chile's Seafood Exports Hit $9.19B as ProChile Courts New York

New York – October 15, 2026 -- Chilean seafood exports totaled US$9.186 billion in 2025, with the United States taking US$2.918 billion, or 31.7% of shipments, according to export promotion agency ProChile. That makes the U.S. Chile's leading seafood destination, and ProChile is using a New York event to widen that footprint across food and beverage.

ProChile, which operates under Chile's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will hold two invitation-only events on October 20 for media, influencers and industry professionals: a curated Chilean lunch and an afternoon wine and pisco masterclass. Both aim to present products already available in the U.S. market alongside new offerings.

MSC Decade Study: US Seafood Buyers Expect Sustainability by Default

WASHINGTON – October 15, 2026 -- U.S. seafood consumers now treat sustainability as a default expectation rather than a niche preference, according to 10 years of Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) research covering 15,000 respondents since 2016.

The report, "A Decade of Change: Sustainability Now a Mainstream Concern of U.S. Seafood Consumers," was conducted for the MSC by the independent insights firm GlobeScan. It finds that U.S. consumer support for sustainability has climbed to match levels traditionally seen only among European consumers.

Consumers demand independent proof of sustainability claims

Shoppers increasingly want environmental claims independently verified, and claims alone no longer suffice. The MSC says this reinforces the value of credible third-party certification. Consumers also view sustainability as built into seafood products rather than added on, and economic realities continue to shape purchasing decisions.

Taipei – October 15, 2026 -- Far Eastern New Century Corporation (FENC) says its FENC® TopCool® Petal moisture-management fiber has been named a designated material for the 2026 World Cup by a leading global sportswear brand. The company also supplies the apparel value chain for multiple national teams in the tournament.

Petal-shaped fiber targets moisture and opacity in team jerseys

TopCool Petal has a petal-shaped cross-section that FENC says delivers efficient moisture wicking, rapid drying and a soft hand feel. The geometry also increases opacity, reducing the see-through effect caused by perspiration. FENC showcased the fiber at the Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS), held October 6-8, 2026. Its technologies also appear in championship apparel worn by top professional tennis players.

Sidel's EvoDECO Next Cuts Label Surface by Up to 75%

Sidel's EvoDECO Next Cuts Label Surface by Up to 75%

London – October 14, 2026 -- Sidel has launched EvoDECO Next, a roll-fed labelling platform that its modelling shows can cut label surface by up to 75% against a conventional wraparound label, saving one high-volume line about €723,000 a year in raw material.

Partial labels cut BOPP use by 208.4 tonnes a year in Sidel's example

The 75% maximum applies to Sidel's illustrated 90° partial-label configuration. A 180° configuration reduces label surface by 50%.

In Sidel's worked example, a 61,000 bottles-per-hour line produces about 459 million bottles a year. Moving from a full wraparound label to a 90° partial label shrinks label area from 20,160 mm2 to 5,040 mm2 per bottle. That cuts BOPP consumption by 208.4 tonnes annually and associated CO2 emissions by 346 tonnes. Sidel says the CO2 and cost figures rest on its own modelling assumptions and may vary with product, material specification and operating conditions.
